As part of my work as a Costume Assistant, I was responsible for organizing the designer’s kit, including a full rack of tie flats spanning multiple decades — from the 1940s through to contemporary styles — in a wide range of colours and patterns. While primarily an organizational task, this process required a strong understanding of historical menswear, fabrications, and period-specific silhouettes to ensure pieces were accurately categorized and readily accessible during fittings and production. Maintaining this system supported efficiency within the department and reinforced the importance of historical literacy in costume design. My formal training in costume studies allowed me to approach equipped me to approach organizational tasks with an informed perspective.
